Preparando materiales / Getting new material ready

__________

Hello all,

This time not being able to sleep has been turned into something productive, it is past midnight but as I cannot sleep I am working on new material for my kiddos inspired by Almu from maestraespecialistapt.blogspot.com and Anabel from elsonidodelahierbaelcrecer.blogspot.com.

The first thing I did was laminate two papers that had the name and surname of my children written at the top and then written with dots for them to trace over and practice writing their names and surname using whiteboard markers. It is easy to clear and keep on using as my kids have now bored of writing on paper, so I just had to find some other idea to keep them practicing. The first set of pictures above illustrate this idea.

The second idea was to create material to help practice addition and numbers. With the addition papers, again, I wrote a number in the middle of a paper and then the possible ways to add up to that number, for example, if the number in the middle is 4, I had 2+2, 3+1, 4+0 and so on around it. Using cereal, rice grains, or even little smarties (something that might motivate my children hehe) they have to place the right amount of rice grains, for example, on the numbers, if it was 2+2 on top of each 2 they need to place two rice grains. I have made charts for numbers from 1 to 10. The second picture describe this activity.

Finally, another activity that helps recognize numbers and counting from 1 to 10. Each circle has ten spaces. In each space you draw the number of images that represent a number from 1 to 10. I drew circles and stars as I am not very good at drawing and didn't have stickers with me. Then on clothes pegs you can stick a paper with a number from 1 to 10 and they have to count the images in each section and choose the right peg to stick to that side of the circle. I still haven't done the pegs, but that is my homework for tomorrow. :)

Everything has been laminated to aviod issues with wear and tear. Tomorrow we might try some of these activities for the first time, will tell you how we get on.

Thanks Almu and Anabel for your great ideas!
